Weimaraner Rescues In New York State
Weimaraner Rescue Of The North
Weimaraner Rescue Of The North (WRN) has recently merged with New York State Weimaraner Rescue (NYSWR) into one! They now serve New York state, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
They will also adopt out of state but you will need to pick up your dog as they don’t do transports.
WRN is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is entirely ran by volunteers. You can support the rescue by buying items off their Amazon wishlist or donating via Paypal (one time or a recurring monthly payment).
Adoption Application Process
Before you apply for adoption, you need to pay a $25 donation (via Paypal – you don’t need an account). This fee doesn’t guarantee that you will be approved for adoption. All volunteers at WRN/NYSWR are very busy and this helps out weed out applicants that aren’t serious about adopting a Weimaraner and ready to commit.
This non-refundable fee is used to help caring for all rescued dogs, veterinary expenses, and generally running the rescue.
Once your donation is processed (usually within 12 hours), you will be sent an adoption application form. It’s a PDF file which can be filled out after you download it to your computer.
Once you fill it out, you will need to send it back to the contact email. As the rescue is ran by volunteers, expect a few days before your application is processed.
Adoption Costs
The costs for adoption isn’t set in stone and depends on the a variety of factors. Here is a basic breakdown of the fees:
Weimaraner’s Age | Adoption Cost |
---|---|
< 1 year | $450 |
> 1 year | $350 |
WRN/NYWR also rescue Weimaraner-mix breeds and other breeds. The adoption fees for these dogs may differ.

New York State Weimaraner Rescue
The New York State Weimaraner Rescue (NYSWR) has merged with the Weimaraner Rescue Of The North around 2015.
Make sure to visit the rescues’ websites and social media post for up to date information on Weims available for adoption. If you know of any other Weimaraner rescues serving the New York state, let me know!
I applied for an adoption to a rescue that asked for an application fee. I can’t remember which rescue it was. Can you check to see if it was yours? Thank you

Hi Barbara, I’m not affiliated with any Weimaraner rescue. You could try and see which rescues are in your browser history and then go from there. The only rescues serving New York are the ones listed above, so you can try contacting them.
